Welcome to Class Year 3 and 4, 2015/16.

Croeso i Ddosbarth Blwyddyn 3 a 4, 2015 / 2016.

Tymor y Gwanwyn / Spring Term.

Last term our topic was ‘May the Force be with You’.

In Language, we have been concentrating on writing newspaper articles, biographies and instructions. We have enjoyed reading the stories of The papaya that spoke and Mulenga and the cherries, adapted by Pie Corbett and Charlie and the chocolate factory by Roald Dahl.

In Mathematics, we have been improving our times tables, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. We have studied money, weight, time and measure.

In Theme, we have been exploring the Titanic, with children creating spectacular 3D models for homework. These models were then displayed in the hall and the whole school was invited to see them. We have also been learning about Tim Peake the astronaut and about recycling.

The children have enjoyed a visit from Mrs Lizzie Stonhold and friends, and together they have created a brilliant animated film based on the Glannau Gwaun logo.

Tymor yr Haf / Summer Term.

Ein thema tymor nesaf yw ‘Ein Milltir Sgwar’.

Our theme next term is ‘Our Square Mile’.

In Language, we will be concentrating on a diary entry, a book review, a script, a persuasive letter and some poetry. We will also be reading a couple more stories from the Dragonory book by Pie Corbett. Also, we will begin reading our second Roald Dahl book, ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’.

In Mathematics, we will be looking at area and perimeter, angles, co-ordinates, fractions and negative numbers – as well as increasing our times tables knowledge.

In Theme, we will be looking and researching our local area which will involve visiting some of the main attractions of Fishguard and Goodwick. We will also be looking at habitats, food chains and our body.

P.E lessons are on Tuesdays, please remember P.E kit. We will also be swimming this term.

Your child will have regular spelling and times tables work as well as reading. Please take the time to practice these with your child.
